COVID 19 - UPDATES
Thank you all for your patience during this unprecedented time. We always have put our Young Dance families first, and this time is no exception. Please read our updates below for the most recent information regarding Young Dance Academy.
Our Young Dance Staff
- All staff will perform a thorough hand washing at the start and end of every class and use hand sanitizer during the class as appropriate.
- Instructors will eliminate hand holding and hugging from our classroom routine. “Air hugs and high fives” will become our new norm for now.
- Masks will be worn while within 6 feet of the dancers. When an instructor is 6 feet away from the students, the instructor may remove mask when speaking.
- Instructors will monitor social distancing throughout the duration of each class.
Students and Parents
- We will rely on parents to check the temperature of their child at home before leaving for the studio. Of course, if your child has any signs of sickness, please keep them at home for a minimum of 72 hours.
- Students should wear masks into the building, while in the lobby and hallways, as well as throughout their dance class. If a dancer has difficulty breathing, we will allow them to slip their mask down, or remove their mask so long as they are 6 feet from all other dancers and instructors.
- Our locker rooms will be closed at this time. Dancers should bring minimal and condensed items to the studio for their classes. All dancers will be leaving their personal items in the hallways. Please have your dancer dressed and ready for class when they come into the studio as we will not allow them to change in the restrooms.
- Dancers should come to the studio will a full water bottle, as our drinking fountain will not be available for use.
- Check In Procedure: Dancers should walk into the building and head directly to their classroom, while first dropping off their bag on a designated spot in the hallway (all while maintaining social distancing). All room assignments will be posted in the studio lobby. Parents will not be allowed to wait for their dancer in our facility. Parents of dancers ages 7 and under may walk into the lobby to check their dancer into a class. Parents walking into our facility are required to wear masks.
- Check Out Procedure: Parents of dancers ages 7 and under may walk into the studio 5 minutes prior to the end of their dancer’s class and remain in the lobby (while maintaining social distancing) until their dancers are brought to them. All other parents must meet their dancer outside our front door or in the parking lot in their cars. Please be reminded of our parking lot safety rules and avoid blocking traffic in and out of our studio parking lot. Please do not stop your vehicle at our front door to let your dancer out of your car.
Classroom Limitations
All classes held in Studio 1 or 2 will have a 20 dancer limit with 1-5 instructors. All classes held in Studio 3 or 4 will have a 12 dancer limit with 1-5 instructors. Please watch the video below where this change was first announced.
ExoClean
We want to make certain that you know we are doing all we can to make our dancers and their families as safe as possible. It is important you watch the brief video below as it explains the steps that were taken to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our dancers, staff and Young Dance families.
FAQs - COVID19 and Young Dance
What should I do if my child tests positive for COVID-19?
If your child tests positive for COVID-19, he/she should isolate at home for at least 10 days from when symptoms began. If your child is asymptomatic, they should isolate at home for 10 days following the day their test was performed. Remaining at home and staying away from others (including those within the same household), will help to prevent the spread of infection to others. Parents should note the start date of the onset of symptoms and continue to monitor symptoms throughout the period of isolation. Anyone who reports COVID-19 exposure to the studio is directed to also report to their County Health Department. A “notice of exposure risk” is also sent to the class.
When can my child return to dance?
Your child must be fever and symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning. In addition, 10 days must also have passed since the start of their symptoms. If your child is asymptomatic, he/she can return to dance 10 days following the date their COVID-19 test was performed. Your child’s return to the studio should also be collaboratively determined by the local health department and you.
Will I be contacted if there is a positive case in my child’s class?
You will be contacted/notified if your child was considered to have had close contact (15 cumulative minutes or more within 6 feet) with a classmate or instructor who tested positive for COVID-19.
How will I be notified if my child has been exposed to COVID-19?
Parents/Guardians will be notified via email if their child has been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. (The Health Department defines close contact as having had fifteen or more cumulative minutes within 6 feet of someone who has tested positive.) This notification will include guidance and information regarding the need to quarantine.
What is considered “close contact”?
The Oak Creek Health Department considers “close contact” as having been within 6 feet or closer for fifteen or more cumulative minutes with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
What is considered an “outbreak” that would close the studio, and for how long?
The Health Department, together with Young Dance administration, will make class/studio quarantine and closing decisions on a case by case basis.
Will my child be required to quarantine if they are exposed to COVID-19?
The Oak Creek County Health Department encourages those with exposure risk to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of potential exposure. Please use your own discretion as to whether or not you are comfortable returning to class. There is absolutely no penalty for absences and all classes may be made up in-person (space permitting).
How will contact tracing be communicated?
Those students and staff who have had close contact with an individual who has tested positive will receive notification of their need to quarantine. Young Dance administration will collaborate with the City of Oak Creek Health Department on a case by case basis in order to facilitate contact tracing.

Summer Greetings to our Young Dance Families! |
I hope you and your families have been doing well, continuing to enjoy good health, time with family and finding silver linings in all of the clouds! We are beginning week 7 of our 8 week summer program at Young Dance Academy and can’t believe how fast the summer has been flying by, despite what we have all been dealing with since mid-March. With all of the uncertainty, changes in our state guidelines and mandates, it has been difficult to plan the following: 1) September performances from our 2019-2020 season |
Our Annual Summer Dance Intensive |
This year, our 2020 Summer Intensive includes the audition for our 2020-2021 Technique Intensive program. If you are interested in auditioning for our 2020-2021 Technique Intensive program, you must attend our 2-week Summer Intensive which runs from Sunday, August 2nd through Saturday, August 15th, 2020. More details are coming this week! We gratefully ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to carefully navigate these ever-changing waters. It is of utmost importance that we keep the health and safety of our YDA dancers and families at the forefront when managing the implementation of our future event plans. We will start announcing plans, beginning with our 2020 Summer Intensive, tomorrow, Tuesday, July 21st! Don’t forget to check your emails! Sincerely, Sandy Young |
