COVID 19 - UPDATES

Thank you all for your patience during this unprecedented time. We always have put our Young Dance families first, and this time is no exception. Please read our updates below for the most recent information regarding Young Dance Academy.

Update 10
Monday, June 8th
If you have been keeping up with our emails and social media, you are aware that our recitals for our 2019-2020 program have been tentatively rescheduled for September 2020.
As I’m sure you understand, it would be difficult to lay out specific plans at this time for the aforementioned recitals without knowing the state guidelines for the upcoming months, including the fall.
As we reopen our doors for our summer program, we are unable to restart our 2019-2020 dance season due to restrictions, specifically on class size. At this time, social distancing would be impossible at Young Dance if we were to resume our previous season.
We hope to have a better idea of what our September recital plans will look like by early August. This will include plans for reviewing recital dances and rechoreographing when necessary. We understand that not everyone will be able to participate in our September 2019-2020 recitals, but we hope the majority of our families will be comfortable returning with safety guidelines in place.
Please continue to watch for updates concerning our 2019-2020 dance season, as well as plans for registration for our 2020-2021 dance season, which will tentatively begin, Saturday, October 3rd.
In the meantime, we hope to see you in the summer and that you and your families are safe and healthy!
Sincerely,
Sandy Young
YDA's Safety/Hygiene Protocol

YDA’s Safety/Hygiene Protocol

Please see our guidelines and safety measures outlined below:

FACILITY

  • It is important you watch the brief video below as it explains the steps that were taken to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our dancers, staff and Young Dance families.
  • Click here to view video
  • Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the studio and frequent hand-washing will be encouraged.
  • At this time, all classes will be limited to 10 dancers and between 1-4 YDA staff members.

STAFF

  • All staff will perform a thorough hand washing at the start and end of every class and use hand sanitizer during the class as appropriate.
  • Instructors will eliminate hand holding and hugging from our classroom routine. “Air hugs and high fives” will become our new norm for now.
  • Masks will not be required, leaving it to the personal discretion of the instructor.
  • Instructors will monitor social distancing throughout the duration of each class.

STUDENTS AND PARENTS

  • We will rely on parents to check the temperature of their child at home before leaving for the studio. Of course, if your child has any signs of sickness, please keep them at home for a minimum of 72 hours.
  • Masks will not be required, but students are welcome to wear one if they so choose.
  • Our locker rooms will be closed at this time. Dancers should bring minimal and condensed items to the studio for their classes. All dancers will be leaving their personal items in the hallways. Please have your dancer dressed and ready for class when they come into the studio as we will not allow them to change in the restrooms.
  • Dancers should come to the studio will a full water bottle, as our drinking fountain will not be available for use.

  • Check In Procedure: Dancers should walk to the front desk (maintaining social distancing) and check into their class(es) for the day/evening. Once they are checked in by our front desk staff, they may proceed to their assigned classroom. All room assignments are notated in the MINDBODY app and will also be posted in the studio lobby. Parents will not be allowed to wait for their dancer in our facility. Parents of dancers ages 7 and under may walk into the lobby to check their dancer into a class. Parents walking into our facility are encouraged to wear masks.

  • Check Out Procedure: Parents of dancers ages 7 and under may walk into the studio 5 minutes prior to the end of their dancer’s class and remain in the lobby (while maintaining social distancing) until their dancers are brought to them. All other parents must meet their dancer outside our front door or in the parking lot in their cars. Please be reminded of our parking lot safety rules and avoid blocking traffic in and out of our studio parking lot. Please do not stop your vehicle at our front door to let your dancer out of your car.
Update 9
Monday, May 18th
Dear Young Dance Families,
I know it has been almost a month since our last update but nevertheless we have been remaining hopeful and positive in our plans to move forward. I am certain you understand that we don’t want to continuously announce future plans only to have them cancelled. That being said we do want you to know that we are thinking of you all and hope you are staying healthy and safe!
These things we do know:
1) Regardless of when our WI Stay-at-Home order is lifted, we will not open our doors prior to Monday, June 8th.
2) Sign-up for our summer classes (including our mini dance camps) will be through the MINDBODY app, which means sign up for each summer class will be online, no more class cards! Watch for details to come in the next few weeks.
3) Our fall class schedule will not be available until mid-July and the earliest registration date for those classes will be in mid to late August. I can’t imagine anyone is able to take registration for dance and sports related activities until we know more about our future guidelines.
We hope to be giving more information in the next few weeks as we move into our upcoming phase.
As in our last update, keep watching and learning with our weekly YouTube videos and keep up on those recital dances!
Hope to see you soon!
Sandy Young
Dear Young Dance Families,
I hope you are all doing well and managing this unprecedented time with positivity and hope as we continue on this path of uncertainty.
As we approach the month of May, it is clear that at this time we cannot yet open our doors to all of you. Therefore, you will experience another month tuition free including the costume fees that are built into our monthly tuition.
As I’m sure you recognize, it is difficult to make any plans for the near future including:
1) Reopening procedures and guidelines
2) Plans for re-choreographing 2019-2020 recital dances
3) Auditorium seating guidelines for planned September recitals
4) Summer class schedules
5) Fall class schedules and confirming a start date for our next season
Those items listed are just, of course, the tip of the iceberg.
Concerns have been mentioned regarding costumes fitting for our planned September recitals. We did take that into consideration when moving our recitals to September. Trust us…we will make this work!
I hope you are all continuing to practice your recital dances, taking advantage of our YouTube channel, and finding other creative ways to enjoy your love of dance!
We miss you all and look forward to dancing with you again soon!
Kind regards,
Sandy Young

Update 7
Tuesday, April 7th
Dear Young Dance Families,
Here is our latest update concerning our future plans for our 2020 recitals and recital ticket sales:
1) Recitals and Rehearsals – We are now planning our 2020 recitals, including our Spring Showcase originally scheduled for Friday, April 3rd, for September 2020. We will then begin our 2020-2021 season on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. Our tentative recital dates are as follows:
Friday, September 18th
Saturday, September 19th
Sunday, September 20th
Friday, September 25th
Saturday, September 26th
Sunday, September 27th
Dress rehearsals are tentatively planned for the following dates:
Friday, September 11th
Saturday, September 12th
Sunday, September 13th
Please note: As of today, the “line-up” or order of dances in each show will remain the same however, the order of when each show will be performed may be different than was originally planned. For example, the last recital was initially scheduled for Saturday, May 16th. That show may end up being performed on Friday, September 18th. This is yet to be determined.
2) Ticket Sales – The sale date is still to be determined. No credit cards will be charged for ticket sales and all checks for ticket purchases will be sent back to those who have mailed in ticket payments.
Clearly, so much information is to come. We are aware of the many circumstances that will be affected by these changes. We realize there will be dancers unable to accommodate these changes. We hope the majority of our 2019-2020 dancers are able to make it to the GHS stage in September!
In the meantime, keep practicing your recital dances and stay connected to dance via social media and our YouTube channel. We hope you have been enjoying all of our videos!
Our plans for the month of May and the first week of June will be determined closer to the end of April.
We hope to all be dancing together again soon! We miss you and hope you are all healthy and safe! Thank you for your continued support of Young Dance!
Kind Regards,
Sandy Young
Update 6
Thursday, March 26th
Dear Young Dance Families,
We are thinking of all of you and hope you are staying safe and healthy in these ever-changing times. We are continuing to follow our state directives and will not be holding any classes at the studio through Friday, April 24th unless an amendment is announced.
Therefore, we will not be charging tuition fees for the month of April. We are waiving any costume fees which as you know, are included in our regular monthly tuition as a courtesy to you, our valuable YDA families.
We are further postponing our recital ticket day. Ticket day will be rescheduled once we confirm our 2020 recital dates. As we stated in our last email update, we are determined to have our recitals to celebrate our dancers and teachers, and all of their hard work this season!
Please continue to practice your recital dances and stay in shape through your regular warm-ups, barre work and class combinations. Watch for some fun dance videos next week and in the weeks to come!
We miss you all and hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
Sandy and the Staff at Young Dance
Update 5

Monday, March 23rd

Dear Young Dance Families,
Thank you for your patience as we navigate our business during this unprecedented time. We truly appreciate all of your support and positivity and are grateful to have such wonderful Young Dance families!
TICKET DAY – We are planning to postpone our Recital Ticket Day to Saturday, April 4th. We are requiring that ALL families planning to purchase recital tickets on our new ticket day, Saturday, April 4th, please mail or email their ticket requests to the studio. If you are submitting your requests via email, you must have a credit card on file. To add a credit card, please log-in to the parent portal via the link below:
If you are still in need of a ticket time for ticket day on Saturday, April 4th, please let us know and we will be happy to draw one for you.
I do plan to hold the recitals, even if they end up being postponed. We have all worked too hard to take the easy way out and just cancel everything. Obviously, so much of this planning is on hold until we know what is happening in the country and what will be mandated. In the meantime, please note the following:
1) We are still planning to hold the recitals.
2) Recital Ticket Day is being reschedule for Saturday, April 4th.
3) If our recitals absolutely must be cancelled, everyone will receive a full refund for any tickets purchased.
4) If the recitals are rescheduled, the tickets purchased for the original shows will be used for the new dates.
5) If families are concerned that they may not be able to attend a recital on a rescheduled date, they should NOT purchase tickets and should wait until any rescheduled dates are confirmed.
Every seat in the Greendale High School auditorium allows an audience member full view of the stage. I am anticipating that no shows will sell out and everyone will be able to purchase tickets for the recital they choose to attend once the rescheduled dates are confirmed.
Our number one concern is the health and safety of our dancers, staff and their families. Rest assured, we have considered all possibilities and have many plans in place. We appreciate your trust!
Thank you,
Sandy Young
Update 4

Thursday, March 19th

Dear Young Dance Families,
Please watch the video below for the most recent update regarding Young Dance Academy.
We miss you all!
Sandy Young
Update 3

Monday, March 16th

Dear Young Dance Families,
As you read in our update from Sunday, March 15th, the studio will be closed and no classes will be held from Monday, March 16th through Sunday, March 29th. For more details on the closure, please see our previous email, titled Update 2.
At this time, we are still planning to hold our ticket day on Saturday, March 28th. It has come to our attention that several families have yet to choose their recital ticket lottery time. Please email the studio if you would like us to draw your ticket time. We would be happy to take care of it for you!
If you plan to take advantage of our recital ticket envelope method, please mail in your ticket requests to the studio. Remember to include a check or indicate on the envelope if you’d like us to charge your card on file. For a reminder on what information to include with your requests, please see the recital ticket information sheet included below:
Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this uncertain time. We truly appreciate all your positives emails and support!
Sincerely,
Sandy Young
Update 2

Sunday, March 15th

Dear Young Dance Families,
Thank you for your patience as we take the necessary steps for the safety and general well-being of our YDA family, which includes our all of our dancers, parents and staff.
We will be closed and no regular classes will be held from Monday, March 16th through Sunday, March 29th. We will reevaluate our future plans beyond March 29th as it gets closer to the end of March. Parent Observation Week is therefore cancelled, as I’m sure you will agree, is best for the safety of all.
To compensate for these next two weeks, we have extended our dance season through Saturday, June 6th. In addition, we have moved our Spring Break from April 6th – 11th to the week of March 23rd – 28th. At this time, our Ticket Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th. Please stay tuned for our plans for Ticket Day to come.
In the meantime, we will be posting videos of recital dances to YouTube for the dancers to continue practicing their recital choreography. This information will be included in a followup email within the next few days.
Watch for more information to keep our dancers moving and help them stay engaged in and active with their love of dance!
We appreciate your understanding during this time!
Sandy Young
Update 1

Thursday, March 12th

Good Evening Young Dance Families,
As of today, Young Dance Academy WILL be open for the remainder of the week and through the weekend. At this point, we are unable to predict what will be the case for the weeks to come.
In the meantime, we are taking all measures to keep our YDA families safe by sanitizing all surfaces and door handles throughout the day and between classes.
As a mandatory request, we ask that you and your dancer stay home to rest and avoid the spread of illness if you, your dancer, or any other household members are sick or showing signs of any illness.
We need everyone to make wise choices to ensure the health of our community. If you are personally not comfortable with your dancer attending class for the remainder of this week we understand.
Thank you,
Sandy Young
